In this post, we’ll show you several methods you can use to show two pages on Google Docs side by side.

How to see two pages on Google Docs at the same time

There’s no dedicated way to view two pages side by side on a single screen in Google Docs. But, there are 4 ways you can view multiple pages in Google Docs side by side:

  • Using multiple windows.
  • Using the minimize button to resize (available with the latest Windows 11 update).
  • Using keyboard shortcuts.
  • Using the Tab Resize – split screen layouts Chrome extension.

We’ll dive into each of these methods separately.

Method 1: Using multiple windows

The first method you can use to show two pages in Google Docs is by using two separate windows on Google Chrome or another browser.

  1. Open one window and open the Google Docs document where you want to see two pages. Go to the first page you want to see.
  2. Next, open another Google Docs. Tap on the three dots in the top-right corner and select ‘New Window’ or press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + N on Windows and Command + N on Mac.

  1. Open the same Google Docs document and go to the second page you want to see.
  2. Then, open both the windows and minimize them.

  1. Drag and resize the windows on the screen, so you see them side by side.

Method 2: Using the minimize button to resize

You can use this method only if you have installed the latest Windows 11 update. It’s a similar method to the previous one, except that you don’t resize the windows manually.

  1. Open the Google Docs document in two separate windows.
  2. Open one of the windows and hover over the minimize button.
  3. A pop-up menu will appear displaying different layouts. Select the first one to see the two windows in equal size on the screen.
  4. The active window will show in the first partition.
  5. Now, click on the second partition to choose the second window. All your open windows will be shown - pick the other Google Docs window.
  6. Windows will resize the two windows automatically according to your chosen layout.

Method 3: Using keyboard shortcuts

Follow the steps below to show two pages in Google Docs with keyboard shortcuts.

  1. Open the Google Docs document in two separate windows.
  2. If you are using Windows, open the first Google Docs window on the first page and press the Windows key + Right arrow to move the Google Doc to the right side of your screen or press the Windows + Left arrow to move the Google Doc to the left side of your screen. If you move the doc to the right, you’d see active windows to choose from on the left.
  3. Select the second Google Docs window and scroll to the second page.
  4. If you are using Mac, there are several ways to see your two opened Google Docs at one:
    1. Press Control + Up arrow.
    2. Double-tap on your Magic Mouse with two fingers.
    3. Press the ‘Mission Controlkey (F3).
    4. Click the ‘Mission Control’ icon (three small colorful squares) in the Dock or Spotlight-search for it.

Method 4: Using the Tab Resize Chrome extension

Another approach you can use to see two pages in Google Docs at the same time is to install the ‘Tab Resize – split screen layouts’ Google Chrome extension.

  1. Go to the Tab Resize Chrome extension page.
  2. Click on the ‘Add to Chrome’ button, then click on ‘Add Extension’ in the pop-up dialog box.

  1. Next, click on the ‘Extensions’ icon in the top right corner of your browser and select the ‘Tab Resize – split screen layouts’ extension.

  1. Read the Terms and Conditions and click on ‘I Understand’.

  1. Finally, open the first page in Google Docs in the first partition and the other Google Docs page in the second partition.
