How to Upload Video to YouTube From Google Drive

If a video has been sent to you in your Google Drive, and you want to upload it to YouTube, you might wonder if there is a way to do that directly without having to download the video.

Unfortunately, there isn’t.

Even though both apps are owned by Google, there isn’t any built-in option that enables users to upload videos from Google Drive directly to YouTube.

However, there is a workaround that allows you to upload YouTube videos without downloading them first from Google Drive.

Keep in mind that it is still easier to upload a video to a YouTube channel from Google Drive by first downloading the video and then uploading it to the platform.

How to directly upload videos from Google Drive to YouTube

Since there is no direct method that enables users to directly upload videos from Google Drive to YouTube, users need to download a google drive extension named ‘YouTube Uploader for Dropbox, Drive’.

YouTube Uploader for Dropbox, Drive plugin supports different video formats such as MPEG4, MP4, AVI, MOV, FLV, WMV, WebM, etc.

The plug-in also works with other web browsers like Safari and Mozilla besides Google Chrome.

So, here is how to upload videos to YouTube without downloading.

  1. Go to YouTube Uploader for Dropbox, Drive and click on ‘Add to Chrome’ to install the plug-in on your browser.

  1. A pop-up will show at the upper border of your browser, click ‘Add app’.
  2. Once the plug-in is integrated into the web browser a new window will open. Click on the YouTube uploader.

  1. Once you click on the YouTube uploader, you will be able to see another window. Click on the button that says Google Drive.

  1. Click ‘Log in and Authorize’ to grant the plug-in permission to access your Google Drive.
  2. Log in from the pop window to your email and click Allow.
  3. Here, you will see a pop-up window with all the videos uploaded on Google Drive. Click on the video file you want to upload and click on ‘Select’.

  1. Click on Add to upload List. You will see the video listed in the big empty field.

Other alternative ways of uploading Google Drive videos to YouTube

Zapier

In case the first method for some reason does not work for you, you can also try uploading videos to YouTube through integrations.

Zapier is one of the most famous apps that connect different apps and it also supports connecting Google Drive with YouTube.

In order to use this method, you will need to create an account on Zapier first and then connect your account to their platform.

Next, you will also need to connect YouTube to Zapier so you can upload files from Drive to YouTube.

Downloading video

As we mentioned earlier, downloading the video from Google Drive and then uploading it to YouTube is the easiest and quickest way to deal with this process.

In case, you don’t want to use any of the methods mentioned above, you can always use the old-fashioned way.

  1. Open Google Drive.
  2. Select the video that you want to upload to Youtube.
  3. Then click on the 3-dots.
  4. Choose download.

To upload the video:

  1. Click on the video camera icon.
  2. Click on Upload Video.
  3. Select the video to upload it to YouTube.
